Clinic closed

The public and pregnant women are urged to use clinics closer to their residence after temporary closure of the Gateway Clinic at the National Hospital in Bloemfontein 15 June.

The provincial Department of Labour’s Inspection and Enforcement Services found the clinic unsafe for workers and patients as it was not complying with Occupational Health and Safety Regulations. This arose to the Department of Health’s failure to comply with the act. The inspection team discovered electrical faults, ceiling about to collapse and the general cleanliness is unsatisfactory.

Mondli Mvambi, spokesperson of the Department of Health, said the clinic has moved to the building inside the hospital, and the permanent structure earmarked for the Gateway Clinic was nearing completion.
