Four suspects were arrested with stolen loot and firearms in Bloemfontein. Police spokesperson, Sergeant Mahlomola Kareli, stated a hijacked Ford Figo was recovered by the police’s Flying Squad in Phase 7, Mangaung.

According to Kareli, the police received information about a Red Ford Figo that was reported hijacked in Namibia Square on Friday 12 July, at around 20:10. “The vehicle was found abandoned in Phase 7 with its wheels and battery missing,” Kareli said.

He further said on the way to the scene a suspicious blue VW Golf was spotted in the direction of the R700 road, with the police giving chase.

Kareli reported that one squad member pursued and apprehended a suspect. The suspect had jumped out of the moving vehicle in an attempt to flee when the vehicle was forced to stop on the R700 road. “All four occupants were arrested,” added Kareli.

The vehicle was then searched, and one firearm, two wheels, hub caps of a Ford, keys of a Ford vehicle, one battery, electricity speed points, cigarettes, and various other stock was found. All these items are suspected to have been taken from the reported hijacked Ford Figo.
